If you have a speaker that needs a little or a lot of attention to regain its former glory, feel free to contact us.
Services We Offer:
Refoaming
Over time, the material used for the suspension (surround) in speaker elements deteriorates and loses its function. To restore the speaker, the old suspension needs to be removed, the element cleaned, and a new one glued in place. The speaker will then be ready for use again.
Speaker Cabinet Restoration
Wooden vintage speakers can be as old as 70 years. They were often the primary source of entertainment, used heavily, moved frequently, and relocated along with their owners. During this time, they may have gotten scratched, accidentally dropped, or stored in damp conditions. Fortunately, most of these damages can be repaired.
Common restoration tasks include sanding followed by oil finishing, filling larger cracks, and repairing structural damage caused by falls or weakened adhesive.
Recaping
Every speaker contains a crossover inside the cabinet, responsible for directing the drivers to produce the desired sound. A crucial part of every crossover is the capacitors. Capacitors contain electrolytes that dry out or leak over the years. When this happens, the capacitors lose their properties and can no longer control the drivers correctly.
The lifespan of modern capacitors is about 20–30 years, which means that if your speakers are from the 1970s, they might have started losing their functionality as early as the 2000s. Capacitors are relatively inexpensive and can significantly improve the sound quality of your speakers.
Other Services
In addition to these three common tasks, we also offer the installation of modern cable connectors and crossover reconstruction.
